Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find the median from a frequency table?

Find the total frequency. The median is at position (n+1)/2. Cumulate the frequencies to find which class or value contains that position.

How do I estimate the mean from grouped data?

Use midpoints for each class interval. Mean ≈ Σ(midpoint × frequency) ÷ total frequency.
