How can we help?

It is calculated from your performance across every topic you have attempted, weighted heavily toward your most recent answers. That means early mistakes stop dragging the number down once you have actually improved. The prediction reflects where you are now, not where you started.

It tracks how well you know each topic and when you last practised it, then resurfaces topics just before you are likely to forget them. That timing is what turns short-term recall into something that survives until the exam.

Adaptive mode moves the difficulty with you, going harder while you are getting things right and gentler when you stall. If you would rather fix it, you can choose Easy, Medium or Hard explicitly on any topic.

Every question you get wrong is saved and tagged by error type, then queued to come back to you later. It is the fastest way to stop repeating the same slip.

Around 360 question archetypes across all 84 GCSE topics, and each one regenerates with different numbers every time you see it — over 280,000 distinct questions in total. You will not run out of a topic before the exam does.

The grade boundaries the exam boards actually published for the June 2025 series, for your board and your tier. That is why a Foundation paper caps at grade 5 here, exactly as it does in the real exam. Where a board has not published a figure we say so rather than estimate one.

AQA, Edexcel, OCR and Eduqas, at both Foundation and Higher tier. You set your board once and everything follows it — the mock paper structure, the grade boundaries and the exam dates.

The whole course laid out as a ladder from Grade 1 to Grade 8/9. You climb stage by stage, and each stage ends with a 10-question Stage Test that has to be passed before the next one opens.

On any question, open the canvas and write your working with a stylus, finger or mouse. If drawing with a mouse is awkward, you can type your working into the scratchpad instead. It renders proper maths as you type. On Premium, whatever you write is what the AI marks.

Once you are at roughly 50% mastery across most of your topics. Before that a mock mostly measures what you have not covered yet; after it, it becomes a genuine benchmark and updates your predicted grade.

Yes, in Settings. We snapshot your progress when you switch, so nothing is lost and you can switch back.

Yes. The whole platform runs in the browser on any device, and can be installed to your home screen. The canvas supports stylus, touch and mouse.

There are 276 real past papers with their mark schemes, in a viewer with your working canvas alongside. You can sit one on screen, or do it on paper and photograph your working for the AI to mark against that paper's own mark scheme — that part is Premium.

It works through the method a step at a time rather than handing you the answer, reads the mark scheme with you, and can mark your written working line by line to show which step dropped the mark. It knows which question you are stuck on. The Coach is a Premium feature.

Pick any topics, or let it choose your weakest, and you get a real PDF: questions with squared working space scaled to the marks, a board-style mark scheme, a worked example and a separate answer key.

You pick a plan and add a card to start your seven days, and nothing is charged during them. The exact date and amount of the first payment are shown before you enter your card. Cancel before the trial ends and you pay nothing; otherwise the subscription starts on that date. We email you beforehand, and you can cancel any time in Settings.

From Settings, at any time. Changes take effect at the next billing cycle and never affect your progress, streaks or history.

Your account and all of your history stay. You lose access to the paid features until you resubscribe, and everything is exactly where you left it when you do.

Basic is the whole practice platform — every topic, every past paper, mock exams, lessons, analytics and the mistake bank. Premium adds the AI: the Study Coach on every question, examiner feedback on wrong answers, AI marking of your handwritten working, and the deeper analytics tabs.

Yes. You have a statutory 14-day right to cancel from purchase and receive a refund. After 14 days you can still cancel at any time, and we refund the unused part of the period you have paid for, keeping a proportionate amount for the access you had.

Yes. The parent portal gives a read-only view of progress, time spent, topic mastery and predicted grade, plus an optional weekly email summary. Parents do not see AI Coach conversations.

Not yet. We are launching with individual students first and opening to schools and departments after that. Email contact@examladder.co.uk to register interest or to talk about piloting with a class, and we will come back to you when it is ready.

You create your account first, then find your 6-character link code under Settings → Family. Your parent creates their own parent account and enters that code, or you can email it to them from inside the app. Nothing is shared until you approve the request — and you can revoke it at any time.

No. The parent portal shows progress, time spent, topic mastery and your predicted grade. Your conversations with the Coach are not part of it.

Thirteen or over. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up and only store the year. Accounts for under-13s are refused and deleted.

No. Your answers, your written working and your Coach conversations are used to run the service for you. They are not used to train third-party AI models, and they are not sold.

From Settings, yourself, without emailing anyone. It removes your account and the data attached to it. You can also export everything we hold on you from the same screen.

Use "Forgot your password?" on the sign-in page and we will email you a reset link. Changing your password signs out your other devices and we email you to say so, so you would know if someone else had done it.
